Lindemann Metal Recycling expands InDEx system
Lindemann Metal Recycling has expanded the new InDEx (Intelligent Data Exchange) monitoring and analysis system, designed to revolutionize operational efficiency in the metal recycling industry. This comprehensive system offers real-time data logging, performance monitoring, and analytical insights, making it extremely useful for operational management.
Developed in collaboration with an Austrian tech specialist, InDEx provides users with real-time access to detailed performance data from their Lindemann machines, including shears, shredders, and, starting in 2025, balers. By logging and analyzing comprehensive operational data, InDEx gives managers the ability to optimize machine utilization, reduce downtime, and improve productivity.
"InDEx takes the guesswork out of machine monitoring," says Krischan Wolters, manager of product management and development at Lindemann. "It's not just about troubleshooting from a distance; it's about converting raw data into meaningful information that can be used to maximize machine output and minimize downtime."
Unlike traditional manual methods of performance tracking, which relied heavily on paperwork, InDEx collects and processes data automatically from the Siemens S7 PLCs fitted on Lindemann machines. This data is then sent to a secure, cloud-based server, where users can access and analyze performance metrics via any web browser or mobile device. Whether on-site or remotely, yard managers can monitor machine usage, track downtime causes, and even compare operator performance with ease.
