Istanbul police seize counterfeit currency equipment in Sisli - Türkiye Today

Police officers in Istanbul‘s Sisli district detained a suspect on Oct. 18 after finding counterfeit currency production materials during a routine stop.

The operation, carried out by Istanbul Police Department teams, aimed to enhance public safety and identify potential offenders.

During an inspection in the Merkez neighborhood, police officers stopped a man who aroused suspicion. An examination revealed that the individual’s passport photo did not match his appearance, and further investigation confirmed the passport was counterfeit.

The suspect, identified as S.S., was taken into custody.

A search of the suspect’s luggage uncovered various items used in counterfeit money production, including:

Following the completion of procedures at the police station, S.S. was charged with “counterfeiting currency” and brought before judicial authorities.

The court subjected the suspect to judicial control measures.
