Bright Spot: Angela Mambro, retired teacher, spreads joy with handmade items and treats

Pittsford, N.Y. — Our Bright Spot shines on Angela!

It’s no coincidence that the first five letters of her name spell “angel.”

Angela Mambro's family and friends have overwhelming nominated the Pittsford woman as a bright spot.

This retired teacher, who devoted three decades to Fairport schools, spends countless hours at the sewing machine making drawstring bag, shirts for boys in Haiti, and 1200 dresses for Dress-A-Girl International.

"Every single dress that I make I think of the little girl who's going to wear it, I can't help but think of her," said Angela Mambro.

And knitting, too: 300 baby hats for newborns in the hospital and over 400 hats and mittens for school kids.

"That's the fun of it, thinking about, while I'm knitting, thinking about these kids and how happy they're going to be to get these hats," said Mambro.

And it’s not all work and no play so to speak, how about 25 years of music and baking?

"I played clarinet in the New Horizon's Band at East School of Music,” said Mambro. “We loved to have a coffee break, and I made homemade cookies for everybody, and I knew who liked which ones and who didn't want raisins in one, and who wanted coconut in another, and I had a lot of fun making those cookies.”

So, our bright spot shines on Angela Mambro and a life filled with caring for others.
