Residents with medical equipment plea for quick power return
TAMPA — With hundreds of thousands of people still without power after Milton, some are needing electricity to power their medical equipment.
TECO says it has crews working around the clock to restore power, but there is a sense of urgency for Norma Doyle. She spent Friday morning cutting tree brances to put on her street.
"I made the mess. I just didn't want people running over it," she said.
Doyle said she has stage four cancer and stage three chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
“I need Tampa Electric. I need my oxygen machine," she said.
A tree that has been in her neighborhood for over 60 years couldn't handle the wrath of Milton. The tree landed in her yard but not on her house.
Doyle said the wind from Milton was unlike anything she has seen since the 1960s.
“I’ve experienced high winds but not that high," she said.
She said she will clean as much brush as she can while hoping she can get oxygen powered back up soon.
TECO has over 6,000 crews working to restore power.
