Man accused of 3D printing machine gun converters - mlive.com
OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A Michigan man is accused of using a 3D printer to make guns and illegal attachments that convert semi-automatic weapons to fully automatic, police said.
The suspect was arrested for carrying a concealed AR 15-style rifle, according to a news release from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. At the time, the suspect was out on bond related to a felony drug possession charge.
Working with the ATF through the Gun Violence Task Force, the sheriff’s office discovered that the suspect was allegedly 3D printing and selling machine gun conversion devices for Glock pistols, which make the weapons fully automatic, police said.
Law enforcement obtained and executed a search warrant. A 3D printer, a 3D-printed pistol and 13 machine gun converters were seized, police said.
The sheriff’s office is seeking “substantial charges.”
The suspect’s name has not been released pending charges and arraignment.
